FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The Orono Football Association is excited to launch our new website and registration platform powered by Crossbar.

Our goal with this transition is simple: create a more modern, streamlined experience for our families while improving communication, scheduling, registration, and volunteer coordination across the program.

As we continue to grow, we believe this platform will better support both our players and our families for years to come.

Why are we moving to Crossbar?

Crossbar is a modern sports management platform designed to make the experience easier for families, coaches, and volunteers alike.

Some of the benefits include:

  • Improved communication tools
  • Simplified registration processes
  • Easier volunteer coordination
  • Better mobile experience
  • One family account for all participants
  • Combined scheduling for families with multiple athletes

We believe this platform will help simplify many of the administrative tasks that come with youth sports while creating a smoother overall experience for our football families.

What other Orono organizations are using Crossbar?

The Orono Youth Hockey Association successfully migrated to Crossbar last year and has had a very positive experience with the platform.

In addition, several other local youth associations are currently exploring or actively discussing future transitions to Crossbar.

How do I register multiple participants?

After creating your Crossbar account, you can add additional family members directly within your family profile before returning to OronoFootball.com to complete registration.

To add participants:

  1. Log into your Crossbar account
  2. Click the “+” icon to add each family member
  3. Return to the registration page to register each participant

You may also invite a spouse, significant other, or additional guardian to join your Crossbar family account during setup.

Is this Crossbar setup process something I will need to repeat every season?

No. Creating your Crossbar family account is primarily a one-time setup process.

Once your family account and participants have been created, future registrations will be much faster and easier. You will simply log into your existing account to register for programs, access schedules, manage volunteer signups, and receive team communication.

What email address should I use for my Crossbar account?

Please use one consistent email address when creating your Crossbar account.

This email becomes the primary email connected to your Crossbar family profile and may eventually be used across multiple Orono activities and sports using the platform.

Using one consistent email will help avoid duplicate family accounts and registration issues.

Why do I need to register for Crossbar if I’ve already registered with SportsEngine?

Some family and participant information has already been transferred from SportsEngine into Crossbar.

To check whether your participants have already been added:

  1. Log into OronoFootball.com
  2. Navigate to ACCOUNT → Participants
  3. Review your family members, names, and birthdates for accuracy

A great way to ensure you always select the correct participant during registration is to add a profile photo for each athlete.

These photos will also appear on team rosters once teams are formed and can be updated at any time.

Please note: even if your information transferred successfully, families will still need to activate and complete their Crossbar account setup before registering for future programs.

Is the Crossbar app the same as the mobile website?

No. The Crossbar app and the mobile website are two different experiences.

The Crossbar app is designed for quick access to:

  • Team schedules
  • Rosters
  • Team chat
  • Notifications
  • Family calendars

The website/mobile website may still contain additional program information, registration details, resources, and volunteer tools not fully available within the app.

For the best experience, families may use both depending on their needs.

How do I sign up for my required volunteer shifts?

Volunteer opportunities and required shifts will be managed directly through Crossbar.

Once volunteer scheduling opens, families will be able to:

  • View available volunteer opportunities
  • Sign up for shifts directly online
  • Track completed volunteer commitments
  • Receive reminders and updates

Our goal is to make volunteer coordination simpler, more transparent, and easier for families to manage throughout the year.

I’m having trouble creating my account or registering. Where do I go for help?

Crossbar offers live customer support directly through the website.

Simply click the chat icon in the lower corner of the screen to connect directly with a real Crossbar support representative.

No AI bots — just real people ready to help.

For most registration or account-related questions, this is the fastest and easiest way to get support.
