COACH REGISTRATION
Coaching and team manager applications for our 2026 football season are now open and will close on June 19.
Thank you for your interest in the Orono Youth Football Program. Coaches are paramount to the success of our program! Prior to submitting your application please review all information listed below.
Application Process
This season coaches will be selected by an Executive Committee. Selection is based on:
- Availability & interest
- Football experience and coaching history.
- Alignment with our practice and game philosophy.
Coaching Staff Structure:
- Head Coach - Lead team and assistant coaches, create practice plans, develop game rotations, understand league rules and ensure all rules are being followed, communicate with opposing coaches, send weekly updates to families, work with other head coaches in your grade with grade level practices
- All youth teams will have one head coach
- Assistant Coach - Help lead and run practice alongside the head coach. Understand league rules and reflect this during practice and game decisions. May be selected to help run the offense, defense, or special teams for the team. Work collaboratively with the head coaches.
- 4th/5th grade teams will have two assistant coaches
- 6th-8th grade teams will have three assistant coaches
- Practice Coach - Coaches who are willing to help at practice when it works for their schedule. They understand they won't be on the sidelines for games. Practice coaches will be determined by head coach.
- Team Manager - Helps to manage the team organizationally, lead communication and scheduling, assist in dibs (volunteering) communication, and push out information to families. Team managers will be determined by head coach.
Requirements for Youth Football Coaches:
- Every coach must agree to and abide by our official Coaches' Code of Conduct.
- All coaches must complete the certification programs before the season begins. More information will be sent at a later date.
- Align to the principles and rules of the Team Assignments.
- We are no longer treating this like a Draft.
- Follow Orono Youth Football Coaches Manual.
- Preseason Requirements:
- Youth Football Camp on August 5th & 6th, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
- The Youth Clinic is important for coaches to learn the names of players, see them play, and help prepare yourself for the team selections.
- Take part in the Team Assignments Meeting (Head Coaches or one representative only). This will take place Thursday, August 6th.
- Attend a preseason coaches meeting and/or Coaching Clinic. Targeting August 8th or 9th.
- In-Season: Attend 90% of the practices (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) and games (Saturdays, with occasional weeknight games)
Resources are provided to coaches:
- Playbook with Access to PlaymakerX (our official playbook app).
- The playbooks for every grade level are versions derived from Orono varsity offensive and defensive playbooks.
- Example Practice Plans & Drills
- Line-up Templates
- Communication Templates
- Mentor Coaches as needed

- ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE COMPLETED BY June 19, 2026 WITHOUT EXCEPTION!
- Orono Board of Directors will review the application and reach out if additional information is needed.
- The Coaches Committee will finalize selections and all applicants will be contacted by the board.
All accepted coaches will be required to complete training certifications, and background checks prior to any official football activities. More information will be distributed upon selection as a coach.
