Coaching philosophy

Enthusiastic and Positive

Staying positive and enthusiastic with everyone is important. Keeping everyone positive helps the whole team’s morale. The higher we can keep the energy level on the field and in drills the better off we will be.

Committed, Organized and Prepared

Being committed to a program is important because it all starts from the top. To build a strong program commitment is the first step. I believe there is a strong commitment to grow the program. Organization/being prepared is another key factor. I believe it is important for everyone to know where the coaching staff stands from the beginning so there is no question how things are being done. I will have a plan prepared for every practice – a schedule stating what needs to be complete and a time-line to be completed. Time is valuable to everyone and if you can keep everyone on task with a schedule, I believe the more beneficial each practice will be. I’m a huge believer in the idea that working hard for a short time is better than working at an average level for 2 hours just to say you did it.

Communication

It is important to communicate not only to the kids about what is going on but also to the parents and AD. Each parent will know that they can call me with any questions or comments at anytime and I will do my best to answer their questions. It is important to keep the lines of communication open with everyone so there is no miscommunication.

BE A COMPETITOR (Get After It – Compete Hard)

There is nothing more important than working hard and competing hard. It will be my goal to help the kids understand that not only in football but in life you get what you put into things. The harder you work the more reward down the road.

Treat everyone (including opponents) with respect

This is an absolute in my book – no matter what the situation everyone should be respected. As an athlete or representative of the school the most important thing we do is respect ourselves and our opponents.
